The Magick of Dark Root: A Paranormal Fantasy (Daughters of Dark Root Book 2)

The Magick of Dark Root: A Paranormal Fantasy (Daughters of Dark Root Book 2) “There are rules that must be followed, Maggie.” “Even in witchcraft?” “Especially in witchcraft. What someone puts into the world comes back to them.” “You mean karma?” “Like karma, yes. But for a witch it comes back threefold. Never forget that.” “That doesn’t seem fair.” “Who said life was fair?” In the second installment of The Daughters of Dark Root series, Maggie Maddock and her sisters are back, training under their coven-leading mother Miss Sasha Shantay to take over as the new leaders of The Council. But life isn’t as smooth as Maggie had hoped it would be. Harvest Home’s taxes have come due, and her mother’s illness has returned, stronger than ever. The Witches of Dark Root (Daughters of Dark Root Book 1) Kindle Edition by April Aasheim (Author)

The Witches of Dark Root (Daughters of Dark Root Book 1) Kindle Edition by April Aasheim (Author) "There are some secrets darker than witchcraft." - Dora Maddock Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest is a small village called Dark Root, a town steeped in magic, mystery, and secrets. But for Maggie Maddock, Dark Root is also a prison - a place where she is forced to work in her mother's Magick Shoppe while the rest of the world moves forward without her. When a mysterious stranger offers to take Maggie away from it all, she leaves without looking back. Seven years later, Maggie is called home by her beloved older sister. There she is confronted with a renewed sibling rivalry, a mother suffering under a mysterious illness, and a town that's lost it's literal magic. Now Maggie must decide if she will use her newfound abilities to aid those she loves or run from her responsibilities once again. In the tradition of Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic and Rebecca Wells' Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, The Witches of Magic seamlessly weaves the past with the present, the magical with the mundane. It is a tale of family, forgiveness, and the healing power of love that will leave readers believing in magic long after the story ends. Review "The story was full of action, drama, and just really interesting. I found myself finishing this book in about three days and that was because I had to chase after my children. I strongly recommend this book and I am positive you will enjoy it just as much as I did. My hat is off to you author for doing such a great job on your story through and through." - Librarything Review Jennifer35k "I loved how this book showed the magical side to life, love and family. It transports you to the town Dark Root and makes you want to be a part of bring it back to life. I can't wait to read the second part of this story and see what happens next with these sisters. This book was a greatread, I very much enjoyed it and would recommend it to others!!!" - Goodreads Review Theresa El-Thomas About the Author April Aasheim spent her childhood traveling around the Southwestern portion of the United States with her gypsy mother and her get- rich-quick stepfather. During those years she spent time traveling with the carnival, living in an abandoned miner's shack, and learning to read Tarot Cards. After spending her early adult years in California, Tennessee, and Arizona, she finally settled down in Oregon where she has lived for the last decade. April is a mother, a wife, and a reluctant homemaker. She has written several short stories and maintains an active blog. The Witches of Dark Root is her second novel. This was a really rewarding read I laughed and cried and wondered what would happen next. The Witches of Dark Root (Daughters of Dark Root Book 1) The interaction of the sisters was really real and it kept me reading. They were well defined characters that I could easily see as real in my mind. I am big on characters. I loved that they were so different but the love that held them together practically jumped off the page at you. They had left Dark Root because they wanted to find out who they were without the influence of a Mother with a really strong personality who wanted them to follow in her footsteps. Like all teens they wanted to fly on their own. This is a really believable part of the story. They did not prosper while they were gone and neither did the town, which they immediately started restoring, which was not quite as believable. However, there were a lot of life lessons in the story and the magic was only part of the solution. The plot kept me on edge. I could not put the book down. A couple of places it did not jive like at the first of the book it said the bookstore was closed and just after that before the shops had reopened it said a women went into the bookstore. The there was the accent of the aunt I did not understand why she talked that way. It was like she was not quite right and she was suppose to be a wise elder. But on a whole I loved book, in fact, I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel. Join our community and receive 20% off everything on the site

Book review by Judi Singleton of End of Eternity by Loretta Lost

She thought her life was getting better.
Until she found her new husband hanging from a chandelier...

Six months pregnant and devastated, Carmen Winters is forced to pick up the pieces of her shattered life. Before she can even begin to grieve, she finds herself being pursued by Bradford West, her late husband's best friend. Brad's strange behavior puzzles Carmen, but she is too distraught and overwhelmed to push him away.

As she grows obsessed with understanding the madness that took her husband, Carmen finds her own mind unraveling dangerously to the brink of insanity. She is convinced that her sister Helen was the last person to see her husband alive, and might have some information about his death.

When a kind doctor named Owen takes an interest in Carmen's well-being, she finds herself slowly beginning to recover. His infectious sense of humor is able to distract her from her misery, and she finds herself leaning on her new friend for support.

But Carmen doesn't know that there are darker events to unfold that could destroy what little sanity she has left...

***This is book one of a series. Expect cliffhangers. The Clarity series is the prequel to End of Eternity.**

Review

"End of Eternity" is an amazing story - written with depth, passion and poetry. 5+ pure-intensity stars.  - The Book Enthusiast

Loretta Lost's writing style is like a force of nature in End of Eternity. - F. Reede

Ms. Lost's words are, once again, unrivaled by many authors. It pops and is fast-paced enough for the modern reader by being fun and to-the-point, yet almost has a vintage-like vibe of a very experienced classical romance author. - Paige Turner

Loretta has done it again by writing a story that grips you from the first page, satisfies you throughout, and leaves you wanting more at the end. - Sam, Goodreads

Judi's review Despite all the good reviews on this book I found it on the verge of porno and just no plot. The  characters were weakly developed and I don't think anyone acts like this in the real world.   Carmen Winters is pregnant but has sex with her husbands best friend on the top of his coffin. Then she stays all night snuggling with a man she just met. She states she cannot raise this child alone. She just likes being married. Nothing wrong with that but she says she was deeply in love with her husband who went mad and committed suicide.  But only a day goes by before she is involved with someone else. I got this for free, it was a real time waster so I did not buy the series.
