What She Left Behind Paperback – December 31, 2013 by Ellen Marie Wiseman (Author)

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Captivating in its complexity, this novel brings together the strengths and suffering of two young women
born more than 60 years apart. Told in alternating perspectives, the story reaches a place of immense
emotional depth and psychological turmoil, culminating in an unexpected, heartrending ending."--
RT Book Review

"She's done it again. At this time last year, Ms. Wiseman's first novel The Plum Tree was released.
It was excellent and received deservedly wonderful reviews. It is rare that a writer's follow up work is as
good as their first. Such a rarity has been accomplished with What She Left Behind.
What She Left Behind screams with authenticity, depth, and understanding of human behavior
and what can and has, been done to others to maintain control and image for some, while negating and hiding the lives of others."--NY Journal of Books

    Judi's review:

This book bounces between the 1930's and therefore the 1990's with parallel story lines that
have you ever convinced timely that you just have this story all found out. i am going to
prevent the time and energy- you are wrong, you do not have it found out. This story is
cliff-hanging, heartrending, and delightful all at a similar time, however what it's not is foreseeable.

Izzy and Clara area unit the 2 central characters around that a story of mental state,
loss, love, and redemption is created. Wiseman takes North American country
between the 30's and therefore the 90's seamlessly and features a gift for suspense- i used to be left hanging at the tip of the many chapters and located myself scrambling to induce through to search out out what happened.

Neither Izzy's nor Clara's stories area unit specifically what they appear, and therefore the ending command some surprises. I idolized that we tend to have to be compelled to understand each characters (and another howling secondary characters WHO shine in later chapters quite in earlier chapters- however I will not divulge spoilers here!), as a result of I feel that created the ending that way more satisfying.

A wonderful therefore sphomore effort - will't|i can not|i am unable to} wait till it arrives on my Kindle on New Year's Eve so I can browse it everywhere again! Please check this one out- you will not be discomfited.

Judi Singleton Reviews'Shape-Shifting': The Bane of Women Everywhere by Dr Pamels Peek

"Shape-shifting" is something most women know about all too well. As the years pile on, so do unwanted pounds that-even among those who remain relatively slim-can literally change the body's contours.

"One may go from an hourglass to more of a shot glass," says Dr. Pamela Peeke, a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, best-selling author and creator of the "Body For Life For Women Workout" DVD (rodale store.com). "Aging gracefully is all a matter of girth control."

Not to mention understanding women's hormones.

It's Peeke's assertion that recognizing what she calls "women's unique hormonal hard-wiring" is key to achieving and maintaining a peak body for life. There are four hormonal milestones involved:

    • Teens and Twenties. This is when estrogen production rises. Women who were skinny teens may suddenly find weight going to their breasts, hips and thighs. This is the time to build a strong fitness foundation that can last the rest of your life. It's also a good time to build muscle tone and minimize body fat changes.

    • The Reproductive Years. Science shows that if you enter pregnancy healthy and fit, you'll have a healthier nine months and a healthier baby. Whether you have children or not, this is the time when your metabolism begins to slow down. During this period, you should add resistance training-weights-to keep your metabolism as hot as you can.

    • The Forties. This is a time of shape-shifting. Fluctuating estrogen and progesterone levels lead to a three- to five-pound potbelly, or menopot, for many women-on top of which toxic stress levels boost your food cravings. You need to regroup, ramp up your physical activity, examine your lifestyle and put things into balance.

    • Menopause. Once you've reached this milestone, it's important to exercise the mind and body so that you stay sharp and keep fit. Keep learning. Make the effort to add resistance training and cardio-revving walks every day. Your goal is to live a long and indepen-dent life by taking good care of yourself.

REVIEW OF ‘MAKE ME: A JACK REACHER NOVEL’ BY LEE CHILD

Stephen King calls Jack Reacher “the coolest continuing series character”—and now he’s back in this masterly new thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child.

“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there, and there’s something about Chang . . . so he teams up with her and starts to ask around. He thinks: How bad can this thing be? But before long he’s plunged into a desperate race through LA, Chicago, Phoenix, and San Francisco, and through the hidden parts of the internet, up against thugs and assassins every step of the way—right back to where he started, in Mother’s Rest, where he must confront the worst nightmare he could imagine.

Walking away would have been easier. But as always, Reacher’s rule is: If you want me to stop, you’re going to have to make me.

    Praise for Make Me

“Lee Child’s Reacher series has hit Book No. 20 with a resounding peal of wisecracking glee. Everything about it, starting with Reacher’s nose for bad news, is as strong as ever. . . . The big guy’s definitely on the upswing. The guy who writes about him is too.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

“Superb . . . Child’s complete command of the story makes this thriller work brilliantly.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“The reigning champ ups the ante. . . . Yes, there’s breakneck action, but what gives this one its zing is the multilayered plot. . . . The beguiling Chang offers a new treat for series fans as well, and a surprise at the end will keep readers short of breath until the next installment begins.”Booklist (starred review)

“This series remains as compulsively readable as ever. Child is a master of pacing, stretching out the mystery through short chapters that give rise to bursts of well-choreographed violence. . . . Of course, the biggest strength is Reacher himself: impassive, analytical, secretly romantic, and relentlessly honorable. It’s impossible not to root for him. . . . Reacher is still going strong. Will satisfy fans—and newcomers, too.”Kirkus Reviews

Praise for #1 bestselling author Lee Child and his Jack Reacher series

“Reacher is the stuff of myth. . . . One of this century’s most original, tantalizing pop-fiction heroes.”—The Washington Post

“[A] feverishly thrilling series . . . with Child, you can always count on furious action.”—The Miami Herald

From the Hardcover edition. When I was youthful, heading off to the Catholic church  services, I felt that holy messengers were genuine physical creatures that could show up whenever, that paradise was the same amount of a physical spot similar to my grandmother's home. Through the span of my life, my perspectives have changed a lot.... in any case, what made They Who Fell so fascinating is that he took that thought of the blessed messengers being genuine physical creatures and kept running with it and made an unbelievably holding story!

This book has two stories that converge into one.... one story is a young lady named Jana that lives in a tower for the blessed messengers. She is a slave, just like the various people who dwell there. While she is serving the blessed messengers we get the chance to see altogether different sides of them. What's more, much the same as people, there appear to be some of them that are great and some that are detestable. Be that as it may, Jana has been prepared to do what she is advised to manage without inquiry, and she has a little insubordinate streak in her. Her story as she becomes more acquainted with two or three the holy messengers was bolting. The first occasion when she saw a greenery enclosure and the stars was my most loved scene....

The other story spoke the truth a gathering of people that are set for murder the holy messengers that have butchered and subjugated humankind... battling their way over the area while they plot to take every one of them out.

This was a truly one of a kind story and truly amusing to peruse. The consummation was completely epic and left you truly needing more. I will be watchful for additional from this author

For several centuries an isolated mountain village in Mexico has held hidden an amazing secret, an immortal dog that performs miracles of healing. Recorded in ancient Spanish records, it is the dog of Christ, a mongrel stray dog that was present at the crucifixion and which was stabbed by the same spear that pierced the body of the Savior. When a tragedy reveals the dog's existence through a series of miracles accidentally caught on television, it upends the world, destabilizing governments and causing worldwide revolution

The Universe Doesn't Give a Flying Fuck About You (Epic series Book 1) Kindle Edition by J. Truant (Author)

If you walk around every day on eggshells, nervous about making a mistake or looking stupid, then you should read this. If you have a "next big thing" in mind you want to do because you know it will be awesome (starting the business, making the big move, launching the nonprofit, writing the book) but are afraid of doing what it would take to make that thing happen, then you should read this. The universe is very big. You are very small. In fact, you're so small and so insignificant in the big picture that you don't even register to the eye of the cosmos. The universe was here before you were born and will be here long after you're gone, and your life is but a blip on its vast, vast radar. If your life is to matter, it's not going to matter to the universe. It's up to you make your life matter in the only way you can: by doing things that make a difference to you, to those around you, and to those whose lives you touch. Time is short. You have exactly NOW to do whatever it is you're here to do, or to let the inexorable passage of hours and days and years kill your potential like fruit left to die on a vine. The universe doesn’t hate you, but it doesn’t love you, either. You’re just an atom in its infinite workings. The universe doesn’t care if you live, die, suffer, or thrive. Whatever your life here will mean is up to you. Stop worrying so much about what others think and start being who you're supposed to be. It's time to do some epic shit. Judi Singleton's review: 11 pages of angry, aggressive profanity pretending to be wisdom. SHORT BOOK., SHORT REVIEW.

Where Is Your Sense Of Outrage?

BOOK REVIEW OF REPEAT BY Neal Pollack

Through strange metaphysical circumstances, failed screenwriter Brad Cohen finds himself caught in an infinite time loop, forced to relive the first forty years of his life again and again. Each “repeat,” Brad wakes up in the womb on what was supposed to be his fortieth birthday, with full knowledge of what’s come before. In various timelines, he becomes a successful political pundit, a game-show champion, a playboy, and a master manipulator of the stock market, but none of them seem to lead him out of his predicament. As he realizes he wants to break out of the loop and find the love of his life—the one he hadn’t appreciated the first time around—Brad tries, fails, and tries again to escape the eternal cycle of birth and rebirth.Repeat answers the question: If you could live half your life over, would you do things differently? Be careful what you wish for! Repeating is enough to drive a dude crazy.

    Review

"I have thought about turning forty every day since I turned forty, and yet no one has captured in more hilarious and humane detail the profound upending that occurs on that day, and the calamitous desire for a do-over. I don’t want Brad’s curse-blessing, but if I had to read this book again and again every day for year, I wouldn’t mind at all." —John Hodgman, correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and author of The Areas of My ExpertiseMore Information Than You Require, and That Is All

Let me say first that this is the firsthttps://www.amazon.com/gp/gw/ajax/s.html/190-1453776-8389266 https://www.amazon.com/gp/gw/ajax/s.html/190-1453776-8389266book I have read and it was almost my last read. I found the story hard to get into and the characters did not make up for the slow starting story. Once I got into it though I could not put it down. Pollack did a really good job with the writing of this book.  I am glad I didn't just close the book and not read it. It was a cliff hanger after you got into it.  Everyone has felt like a redo would be nice what if we could live our life over what would we do?
